Bangor Tavern Reopens With An Exciting New Look

It can be absolutely devastating when your favourite local watering hole closes - even if just temporarily. But for lovers and visitors of Bangor Tavern, the reopening is well worth the wait - we’re talking a whole new look and 40% off drinks for the month of July (more on this below)

Pouring perfectly foam-capped beers and serving delicious pub classics is second nature to the team at Bangor Tavern - they’ve been doing it for 40 years after all. But as the venue’s milestone birthday approached, owner Adam Micola decided that celebrations should look a little different this year - literally.

Engaging the team at leading architecture firm, Tom Mark Henry, who are known for their mag-worthy residential and commercial projects swathed in style, the Tavern was gifted the thing many approaching 40 desire: a fresh look and a new era of glory days. “We wanted to bring Bangor Tavern in line with the other venues that are coming to the fore in the Shire,” shares Adam of his desire to renovate the space. “We wanted everyone to come back to Bangor and be proud of their local; to make it a bit more of a destination.”

Who said flirty and thriving was reserved for turning 30?

Gone are the dark timbers, pale, washed-out floor tiles and old-school finishes - the work of Tom Mark Henry promises to pack a contemporary punch. “We wanted to bring our already-refreshed fresco beer garden vibe inside,” explains Adam. “We went for blue hues, light grey tones and pops of colour throughout.” Bespoke light fixtures sit above custom-designed, beautifully upholstered banquette seating. Texture and detail saturates every surface. And all new audio and visual equipment combine to elevate and transform the Tav we all know and love.

And on that note, for those worried the family-friendly, honest-Aussie essence of Bangor Tavern will be all but destroyed, you needn’t fear. “We’re focusing on being a pub that caters to everyone - whether they’re 18 or 60,” says Adam, also noting that there will be a revived food menu, wine selection and cocktail list. Rest assured, the bistro will still be as good as ever, the vibes still just as high, and the bar better than ever (and serving porn star martinis on tap. On tap, people).

But is it really a birthday without a bit of a party?

Of course not! To mark the momentous occasion and the revival of the much-endeared, 40-year-old Bangor Tavern, the team are offering 40% off all drinks every day between 5:00pm and 6:00pm for the entire month of July, plus a plethora of events to attend - including live music on Friday and Saturday nights. Oh, and did we mention the beer garden is dog friendly?
