Where to find the best sushi in the Sutherland Shire
Green Shiso
Since opening in 2016, Green Shiso has been drawing Shire-dwellers from near and far. Having spent over 10 years in the industry, owner and head chef Simon has perfected his own take on Japanese cuisine: contemporary, unique, and, in his words, "fresh, healthy, and made with love." Green Shiso has an always-full grab-and-go cabinet, or you can pre-order your sushi feast via their website. If you're eager to try something new, book a seat at their Omakase dining experience, held Tuesday to Friday evenings at 7:00pm.
87 Cronulla Street, Cronulla
Moon Fresh Sushi
Found along the Kingsway, Moon Fresh Sushi is exactly that: fresh. Their menu is hugely extensive, so you may need that extra minute from the waiters - but rest assured, whatever you choose, you’ll be happy you did. If you’re popping over for lunch, take advantage of their lunch special, offered Monday to Friday.

Moim Kitchen
An easy, dine-in restaurant, Moim Kitchen is a favourite amongst Shire locals and for good reason. Humble and cosy, you can expect to find all of your best-loved dishes here, from classic rolls to Japanese curries and bibimbap. Their sashimi is some of the best and we love their lotus chips for something different!

Haru Fresh Sushi
A bold, bright yellow exterior and friendly faces greet you at Haru Sushi. Their menu focuses on sushi classics (nigiri, a range of special rolls, hand rolls and baby rolls), which are met with modern Japanese and fusion dishes such as poke bowls, Korean crispy chicken and rice paper rolls.
339 Kingsway, Caringbah and 54 Gymea Bay Road, Gymea
Kanji
Spanning not one but two locations across the Shire, our love of Kanji’s Japanese eats is widespread. Their well-priced menu features sizzling mains, donburi, bento boxes, poke bowls, noodles and classic and special rolls - as well as saké, a must-try if you’re dining in.

Sushi Train
The OG of sushi served conveyor belt-style, Sushi Train has expanded over 30 years to service multiple locations across Australia and New Zealand - including our very own in Sutherland. Truly, nothing quite compares to sitting atop a Sushi Train stool and watching as your favourite roll, ship or nigiri makes its way around to you - and your mouth. Be sure to finish off with green tea ice cream.

Rushi
One for those who enjoy a modern adaptation, Rushi is a Japanese-style cafe hidden within a Cronulla bike shop. Aside from serving sushi so pretty it’d almost (almost) be a shame to eat it, the crew here have developed a menu of contemporary dishes, including the much-loved Pho-men, a pho-ramen hybrid that sets them apart.

Sushi Dragon
Sushi Dragon will leave you spoilt for choice. Their multi-page menu has all the ingredients of a great Japanese eatery, including return-favourites like the California roll and tuna sashimi, as well as indulgent boats (share, or don’t, we won’t judge you).

Umaya
Ticking off the grocery shopping just got exciting. Located within Kirrawee’s South Village and freshly fitted-out, Umaya invites you to stop off for sushi after a trip to the supermarket. Entrees include Japan’s hottest hits, such as edamame and Dashi tofu, and mains span from sashimi to udon and ramen.

Aomori
Soju and sushi are enjoyed at Aomori, Caringbah. The menu is reasonably priced, the vibes cheerful and the food great. Grab your favourite roll, or opt for a Bento box, udon or meal set if your stomach is grumbling a little louder.
