The $6.95 All-Natural Hand Sanitiser That You Need In Your Life

Say Hello To Happy Hours Skincare

It’s safe to say hand sanitiser has become an everyday handbag staple. Who would’ve thought that if you’re carrying around a bottle, you’d be the most sought-after one at the table? But having this new essential on hand is only the first step. We recently learnt about the harsh chemicals found in most hand sanitisers. Since we rely on hand sanitiser day in and day out, we were eager to get our hands - literally - on the best stuff.

When local Mum and Happy Hours Skin owner Kristi reached out to us about her natural range of skincare we were intrigued. Happy Hours started in 2019 with the mission to simply develop the GOOD stuff. To Kristi, it was a no brainer. As a new mum, Kristi was shocked to find that so many skincare products out there were claiming to be something they were not.

“Words like ‘organic’, ‘natural’ and ‘kid-safe’ were being tossed around far too loosely, despite these products containing many hidden nasties and only a small percentage of natural ingredients.”

Kristi set out on a mission to find simple, effective and safe solutions that were good for her whole family to use. After much investigation, Kristi launched Happy Hours Skin: a range of effective, natural skincare products to uncomplicate our lives.

With a worldwide pandemic unknowingly around the corner, the launch of Kristi’s first product, a refreshing all-natural sanitiser, couldn’t have been more timely. It ticks all of the boxes. Vegan-friendly, kid-safe, cruelty-free and the best part, Australian made. “It is a great feeling to all be supporting and propping each other up during these crazy times”, Kristi says.

We got our hands on the large and travel size hand sanitiser. Since arriving on our doorstep, the mini spray bottle has not left our side. If there was a prize for an ‘all-rounder’ hand sanitiser, this one would take the cake. This little guy is the perfect size for any bag and so easy to use on the go. Kristi suggests keeping the larger spray at home and the travel spray with you to conquer the day.

Being a spray formula, the sanitisers are super versatile. She tells us “It’s perfect for surfaces - shopping trolleys, yoga mats, door handles, at playgrounds.” We use it on our phone, keys and laptop… the options are endless. Plus, the product doesn’t dry out our hands and has a refreshing, zesty smell. It absorbs very quickly so it’s also great for kiddies who aren’t patient enough to wait for normal gel to dry. Being only $6.95 we think this makes it an absolute steal.

The Happy Hours hand sanitiser is formulated with vitamin E and cucumber extract to rejuvenate the skin. “Our products contain no harsh chemicals, parabens, sulphates, silicones or synthetic fragrances. The sanitiser is made using natural ethanol alcohol. The ethanol we use has no chemical additives and is natural, meaning the 62% (minimum) is pure in strength with no variances, unlike others. If the virus is on your skin or surfaces, you can be assured that using this product will kill 99.9% of germs.

We wanted to get back to the basic products but improve and reinvent them with the benefits of natural ingredients to ensure your skin is left feeling comfy and cared for. Our skin absorbs 60-80% of what we put on it so it's important to make sure we are aware of what’s inside the products we use. With our days already so chaotic and demanding, the last thing we should have to worry about is the negative health effects of skincare.”

As Kristi shared more, we learnt her passion to treat our bodies and the earth with the respect they deserve. “Our mission is to be environmentally-friendly while we look after our skin. Through recyclable packaging and naturally-derived ingredients, we have put a lot of passion and care toward positively impacting our earth.”

Tell us more about the hero ingredients in your sanitisers.

Our three hero ingredients are Vitamin E, Cucumber Extract and Lemon Essential Oil. Vitamin E helps support the immune system, cell function, and skin health. Cucumber extract is a skin superfood: the perfect thirst quencher for your skin with high moisturising and emollient properties. Lemon Essential Oil acts as a detoxifying agent that nourishes, cleanses, and exfoliates skin while clearing up skin issues such as oiliness and acne.
