The Shire is turning it up for The Melbourne Cup this year with free-flowing luncheons, 11-course banquets and seafood feasts. So dress to impress and head to one of these Shire-based venues to celebrate the race that stops a nation. We will be updating this list as new events are announced, so no need to look any further. Cronulla RSL
Immerse yourself in all the fashion and glamour of the Melbourne Cup at Cronulla RSL’s Roaring 20’s party. Hosted in the stunning Soldiers on the Esplanade room you will be transported back to the 1920s, a time where jazz bloomed and champagne flowed. Offering a 3-course meal and champagne fountain, this sounds like our kind of event. Tickets are $100pp and also include a jazz band, fashions on the field, sweeps and lucky door prizes.
Cronulla RSL is also hosting The Garden Party held on their iconic outdoor deck. The sweeping views of Cronulla Beach make the perfect backdrop to celebrate the race. For $80pp you will receive a cocktail on arrival and an individual picnic box. There will be live music, sweeps and lucky door prizes. Both events kick off at 12:00pm with tables from 4 to 10 people available.
The Botanical Highfield
Here celebrations kick off with a glass of Chandon or Peroni on arrival, followed by a 3-course seafood lunch. You guessed it: there will also be live music, sweepstakes, best-dressed prizes and plenty of screens to watch the race antics. This package is just $65pp. Giddy up.
The Nun’s Pool
Head along to the Nun’s Pool for a lively summer soiree. There will be a 3-course lunch, sweeps and best dressed prizes at this ultimate beachside venue. It’ll feel like a dreamy Sunday session - on a Tuesday. Big Win.
Salt Meats Cheese Cronulla
Salt Meats Cheese Cronulla is a great place to watch the race live, over a cocktail (or three). There will be an electric vibe, with spruced up tables to celebrate the occasion and music to match the energy of the race. Their Melbourne Cup package is $85pp and includes a 3-course set menu.
3 Doors Down
New restaurant on the block 3 Doors Down is set to welcome us for their ultimate races lunch. They're offering a premium beverage package from 12:00pm to 3:00pm, cocktail on arrival, best-dressed male and female and lucky door prizes. For $120pp, you'll also receive a 7-course tasting menu. You’ll have to saddle up for this one.
Albi’s Taverna
Albi’s is hosting one hell of a long lunch for Melbourne Cup. At $179pp this package is at a higher price point but the inclusions are endless. Watch the race live over an 11-course premium menu and drinks package from 12:00pm to 3:00pm. You’ll be entertained for the entirety with a live DJ, MC, photo booth, male and female best dressed and lucky door prizes. To top it off, Albi’s will be handing out complimentary limoncello cocktails on arrival. What more could you need?
Rydges Cronulla
Waterfront venue, Rydges Cronulla is hosting a luxurious race-day event, offering a three-hour beverage package, accompanied by canapés, sweeps, best dressed prizes, lucky door prizes and live acoustic music. If you’re not in the mood for a 3-course sit-down meal, Rydges is the place for you. Dress to impress and leave with a prize in hand.
Woronora Boatshed
The Woronora Boatshed stands out from the crowd with BYO available. Located directly on Woronora River, the Boatshed offers a relaxed atmosphere and scenic views. For $65pp, indulge in a 3-course set menu with champagne on arrival. The Boatshed will have sweeps and prizes, so pack your favourite bottle and make the most of your afternoon.
Union Place Hotel Jannali
Union Place Hotel is throwing a Melbourne Cup Party like no other on their sunbathed, leafy terrace. The event is $100pp and includes a three-course meal and 3-hour drink package. Sip your way through the whole experience with two hours of free-flowing drinks on tap, all while enjoying a three-course meal, live music, sweeps and best dressed prizes throughout the day.
The Stag and Fawn
The Stag and Fawn are hosting a fun-filled afternoon with live music, sweeps and racing on the big screen. Spoiling guests with options, you may choose a 3-course meal from their special Cup menu. This event is $59pp.
The Founders Room at Wanda SLSC
Get your butts down to the Founders Rooms for incredible views of Wanda Beach. They’re giving you bubbly on arrival, canapes and a high tea lunch, while you watch the race. Max Smift will be playing live music and of course, there will be sweeps and best-dressed prizes.
