Between nine-to-fives, housework, life admin and pets, fitting in time for a date night can be tricky for any couple. Now throw kids into the mix.
Setting aside a few hours with your husband, wife or S.O. to reconnect and relax is so important. That being said, sometimes the rigmarole of finding a babysitter can be enough to put your plans to bed. But what if we told you dates could still happen, even with the kids in tow?
From alfresco activities to delicious dinners, here are 5 kid-friendly date ideas in the Sutherland Shire.
Head To The Pub
It may not be quite the same as the nights you spent at the pub pre-children, but that doesn’t mean that a good meal shared with your favourite person (and little people) can’t be just as nice. There are a number of especially kid-friendly pubs in the Shire - Bangor Tavern, which has a fenced-in playground; Tradies in Caringbah, where the playground is staffed and there are Nintendo Switches on hand; and Cronulla RSL, where there are not one, but two kids’ play areas.
Spend The Morning On The Water
Mosey down to The Boatshed, grab a ‘yak or canoe and hit the water. The folks there run two hour tours setting out at 8:00am that are perfect for all paddle levels, or you can simply hire your own. Follow it up with a relaxed breakfast in the sunshine. It’s practically date perfection, and the kids will no doubt be tired afterwards - bonus!
Pack A Picnic
Salmon Haul, Audley Weir, Wattomolla, Camellia Gardens. There are just so many gorgeous spots in the Shire to settle in for a picnic lunch, from leafy parks to secluded beaches with plenty of room for the kiddos to go free range. Get Your Hands Dirty
Those with kids aged 10-and-up can enjoy getting their hands dirty (literally) at Part Time Ceramics. Their Wheel Taster workshop is perfect for the whole crew, giving each participant 90 minutes of wheel time and access to all of the equipment needed. Even if you don’t end up producing a total masterpiece, it’s sure to induce some giggles amongst you. You and your husband/wife/partner can also bring a light bevvie or two along.
