If you’re a lover of Next Door’s iconic Sunday Sessions then Friday Night Live is guaranteed to float your boat. Let the stress of the week melt away with acoustic sets, $8 wines and $6 craft tins between 6pm til 9pm every Friday. Bookings are essential.

2. Indulge In Green Shiso’s Omakase Dining Experience 

If you’re yet to be introduced to the concept of Omakase you’re in for a real treat. The Japanese phrase translates to “I’ll leave it up to you” and typically involves a chef-led dining experience. You can expect fresh, seasonal and creative morsels served up by Head Chef Simon and his team. The experience is available Tuesday to Friday evenings with seatings limited to eight. Be sure to arrive hungry as you’ll be guided through nine courses of market-fresh goodness. Think truffle salt edamame, sashimi, tempura and Australian wagyu striploin.

3. Gather Your Mates For A Night At Johnny Hu

Slinging classic Australian Chinese dishes and scrummy cocktails is all in a day's work for Johnny Hu. Initially intended as a pop-up, this much-loved Cronulla institution aren’t finished with The Shire just yet. Apple martinis, gin bubble tea, sweet and sour pork and dumplings will continue to be served at their new location which offers a modern, chic and bold design experience.

4. Shop Fred’s Providore For Foodie Gems 

A very welcome addition to The Shire, Fred’s Providore is located in the middle of Cronulla mall and is a foodie’s dream. Stop by to browse the selection of high-quality sauces, aged balsamic, caviar and hand-crafted nougat. Snag a few pieces to enjoy at home and settle in for an arvo of tasty treats. We highly recommend the pasta packs from Fabbrica for a delish and easy dinner. 

 
 

5. Visit The New Rydges Pop-Up by MasterChef Finalist And Shire Local Aldo Ortado

$5 Fridays by Aldo are here! 2022 MasterChef finalist and Shire legend is taking over The Alley at Rydges Cronulla to host weekly events, starting with $5 Fridays from 5:00pm to 7:00pm. Yes, we’re talking $5 drinks AND $5 food. Kicking off on July 1st, Aldo has created the ultimate post-work-week menu featuring fish tacos, prawn dumplings, wings, loaded fries and more. $5 drinks include spritz, sangria, cider and VB. Does it get any better?

 
 

6. Grab Breakie At Cony’s 

Yep, this Shire favourite is now open for breakfast Wednesday through to Sunday. Their breaky menu combines the South American flavours they are known and loved for with Aussie classics. Think Salmon Bagels, Avo Toast, Cuban Sandwich, Granola Bowl and more. Pop in between 6:30am and 1:00pm for the goods.

What could be better of a weekend than rugging up and settling in for a few hours of feasting and sipping with your faves? Henry’s is offering their Bottomless Brunch every Friday through to Sunday which includes scrummy entrees, mains, sides and desserts. You can expect Sydney rock oysters, truffle polenta chips, jerk fried chicken and plenty more. In the age of Netflix and on-demand entertainment, there is something incredibly comforting about booking a seat at the cinema and watching a film from start to finish, distraction-free. Yep, this is not a drill, people. Birdcage Miranda has recently opened for dinner on Friday and Saturday evenings and you’ll want to get in on this action quick smart. The theme is Asian fusion and you can expect goodies like pork belly, lotus chips, bao buns and crispy eggplant. Their super fun Hubba Bubba cocktail is the perfect way to start the night. 

 
 

11. Sample Some Lebanese Cuisine 

This year, The Shire has been lucky enough to see two fab Lebanese eateries open. You’ve got the choice of Eat Lebanese in Cronulla which features chic interiors, relaxed vibes and super fresh Lebanese with a twist. And you’ve also got Jbeil Cuisine in Kareela for a luxurious night out. The glamorous interiors, extensive menu and swish drinks selection are perfect for a celebratory evening. 

 
 

12. Embrace Christmas In July At Zimzala, Rocksalt Or The Pines

We’ll take any excuse for a festive celebration and with the real deal still a little over six months away, Christmas in July is definitely calling our name. Zimzala is celebrating every Thursday in July Rocksalt Menai will be celebrating every Friday, both with delicious three-course set menus. The Pines is celebrating on July 3rd, with seatings at both lunch and dinner!

15. Visit The Shire’s Most Insta Worthy Cafe 

If you haven’t already swung by 7th Heaven Cafe in Sutherland then you’re really missing out. They’ve just opened their gorgeous light-filled second location in Kirrawee so there really are no excuses not to pop by! They offer a huge menu with a multitude of vegan options and each dish is plated to perfection with edible blooms, vibrant colours and intriguing flourishes making plenty of appearances. But it’s not style over substance here. Everything tastes amazing too. Hot tip: The taro hotcakes are a dream. 

 
 

16. Get Crafty At Mont Ceramics

This boutique pottery studio in the centre of Cronulla mall is the ideal space to while away a wintry Saturday afternoon. Offering wheel throwing, trimming, glazing, masterclasses and studio sessions, there are plenty of activities to choose from. Beginners through to clay veterans are welcome to make use of the space and enjoy a wholesome, inclusive and creative couple of hours. Catch their current event offering here.
